A Few Words About Us

The Sanskrit word Shrunkhala which translates to Chain in English, signifies both the belief as well as the approach of the organization. Driven by its confidence that sustainable communities are possible only through effective engagement of the residents, Shrunkhala’s main motto is to generate public awareness and enthusiasm and create a Chain of socially and environmentally responsible citizens to work towards building sustainable and caring community.

Registered under section 8 , Shrunkhala Organisation for Sustainable Development is a nonprofit organisation which has been operational in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra since 2018.  

Shrunkhala is a People’s Organization with citizen focus at its core. The main objective of Shrunkhala is to build sustainable communities offering high quality of life and opportunities to the citizens – where they feel safe, healthy and ultimately happy and want to live and work, now as well as in the future. Shrunkhala aims to achieve this objective by educating citizens on tangible actions which they might take to become the drivers of positive change. Shrunkhala constantly strives to inspire community conversation for sustainable solutions that can result in effective use of natural resources, enhancing the environment, promoting   social cohesion and inclusion and strengthening economic prosperity. 

Shrunkhala's Objectives

  • To build an open platform for the people, especially women, where they can explore their skills and design their dreams.
  • To educate citizens on tangible actions they can take to become the drivers of change.
  • To build a huge community of environmentally conscious green citizens for creating a direct and collective impact.
  • To facilitate entrepreneurship and livelihood trainings for marginalised communities so that they can develop their own sustainable economic and social breakthrough, and at the same time be part of the solution to environmental issues.
  • To maximise local, organic production and exchange.
  • To take action for radically reducing energy consumption while moving towards renewable sources. 
  • To make the community happier and safer.
